Annual Giving Manager

The Annual Giving Manager is a full-time position responsible for achieving contribution goals for the Operating Fund. This year’s goal is $1.24 million. Responsibilities focus on membership and annual contributions acquired primarily through direct mail acquisition programs and renewals, as well as special appeals. The position is responsible for membership analysis, moving donors to higher levels of giving, donor stewardship and recognition programs, as well as implementation of the business membership program and event sponsorship program. The Annual Giving Manager reports to the Director of Development and supervises two staff, Database Manager and Development Associate.

Specific Duties Include:

  • Ensure that MALT meets its goal for annual contributions. This includes creating and implementing annual direct mail plan for new member acquisition, membership renewals, and special appeals.
  • Plan and manage membership mailings (track renewal dates, cycles, prepare and mail renewal print projects, etc.); member acquisition programs, and special fundraising appeals. Develop and manage programs for lapsed donors.
  • Responsible for donor stewardship including acknowledgment policies and procedures for all members and annual donors with special attention to those giving $500 and above.
  • Identify new sources of support for individual giving. Work with Director of Development to coordinate the solicitation of new prospects and upgrading current donors.
  • Oversee Database Manager and Development Associate in management of Raisers Edge database including reports, queries and gift acknowledgment letters.
  • Manage member /donor relations; respond to member inquiries; plan and implement member stewardship programs and activities in collaboration with Director of Development.
  • Responsible for online campaigns to promote membership and donations online and through email marketing.
  • Provide regular reports on membership growth and trends for Director of Development and other executive management, as well as board of directors.
  • Analyze giving levels and identify donors who have the potential to increase their annual giving; develop strategies for donor cultivation and increased giving.
  • Design and manage business membership program and event sponsorship program.
  • Oversee management of Earthshare relationship.
  • Research and write new grant applications in collaboration with Director of Development. Write annual grant updates as required.
  • Participate in special events and projects as requested.

Job Requirements:

  • Excellent writing and communications skills are essential. Experience with writing direct mail and donor letters preferred.
  • Three years direct fund raising experience.
  • Experience with Raisers Edge and the management of annual giving/membership programs.
  • Experience in the direct management of staff in a goal-driven environment.
  • Evidence of ability to generate revenue growth in annual giving programs.
  • Broad-based skills in all areas of development are preferred, including direct mail, annual membership programs, and donor stewardship
  • Experience with event sponsorship programs preferred.
  • Must possess excellent personnel management and organizational skills, polished public manner, and ability to work well with board members, donors, volunteers, and a diverse group of staff.
  • Demonstrated competence in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • College degree required.
