Marin Agricultural Land Trust was founded in 1980 by a coalition of ranchers and environmentalists to preserve Marin County farmland. We have now permanently protected more than 40,000 acres of farmland on 62 ranches and family farms. We are very proud of what we have been able to accomplish, and we are enormously grateful to the many people and institutions whose vision and support have been so essential to our success.

Landowners have their property permanently protected from subdivision or non-agricultural development by selling an agricultural conservation easement to MALT. For a complete list of MALT's easement landowners, download a PDF here.

Donors, including individuals, foundations, and state and local governmental agencies have provided financial resources to help us protect Marin's agricultural heritage and preserve its spectacular landscapes.
