Volunteer
Education
You can become a volunteer for MALT and contribute
to saving Marin's vibrant agricultural community. As a MALT volunteer,
you:
- Help lead MALT tours of ranches and family farms in West Marin where you meet the people who locally grow and produce delicious food
and wine
- Help educate the next generation about the importance of
healthy, local food through our Farm Field Studies program which
brings kids to the farm
- Help educate people throughout the Bay Area about preserving
farmland through our speakers' series, Food & Farming on the
Urban Edge
- Staff our fun and educational booth at fairs, farmers'
markets, and other events & let others know about how they too
can help preserve Marin County farmland
- Help run our incredible special events, like Taste of Marin
(in collaboration with Marin Organic and Marin County Farmers' Market
Association) and our annual major fundraiser, the Ranches &
Rolling Hills Landscape Art Show
- Help with various tasks at our office in Point Reyes Station
Those interested in volunteering are required to attend two days
of orientation and training and commit to working a minimum of four hours per month for one year.
The orientation includes an extensive overview of MALT's programs
and mission. Each day ends with a visit and introduction to a local
ranch or farm.
The training sessions are generally scheduled in February and March. If you are interested in becoming a MALT volunteer, please complete the MALT Volunteer Enrollment Form which is available in PDF format. You will need the Acrobat Reader® in order to view and download the form. Click on this button if you do not have Acrobat Reader loaded on your computer.
