Associate Manager, Communications & Design

About MALT:

Founded in 1980 by a broad coalition of ranchers, environmentalists, and community leaders, Marin Agricultural Land Trust (MALT) is a member-based nonprofit organization dedicated to permanently protecting Marin County farmland for farming and ranching. The Position:

MALT seeks an energetic Associate Manager, Communications & Design to support our communications and events teams. This full-time position reports to MALT’s Marketing Communications Manager and works in close collaboration with members of the full Development and Events & Outreach teams. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, creative, and collaborative.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and produce MALT’s print pieces, including: banners, posters, post cards, menus, educational maps, event invitations, advertisements, and brochures for MALT’s outreach efforts and many events
  • Coordinate print production
  • Oversee proofing and fact-checking of all MALT materials
  • Provide writing and proofing support for larger print communications as needed, including quarterly newsletters, the annual report, and regular fundraising mailings
  • Provide writing and proofing support for digital communications, including emails to members/donors, blog content, and social media posts
  • Pursue and execute on advertising opportunities
  • Support the Annual Fund team as they craft messaging for their appeals and produce letterhead, mailing inserts, remit envelopes, etc.
  • Support Marketing Communications Manager in overseeing PR firm outreach and pitching efforts
  • In coordination with the Associate Manager, Online Communications & Fundraising, maintain photos and digital files archives
  • Contract and oversee photographers, including shot lists for events and photo archiving/sharing
  • Oversee and implement MALT’s brand and style guides
  • Document on-location stories as schedule allows
  • Track and report media coverage
  • Create MALT videos as needed, for use online and at events.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Vendors and consultants, as needed

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 2 years of professional communications experience
  • Demonstrated writing and project management skills are required
  • Experience working with Adobe Creative Suite, iMovie or similar programs, graphic designers, and print houses
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Self-directed with the ability to work both independently and as a part of a team
  • Knowledge and experience working with fundraising teams a plus
  • Advertising experience a plus
  • Spanish fluency a plus
