Art Celebrating Protected Farmlands in West Marin

For the past two decades, art and conservation have been coming together through our Ranches & Rolling Hills Art Show and Sale. For this year’s show, twenty-four artists have painted the protected farmlands of West Marin. Their work highlights MALT’s decades-long conservation work to protect our watersheds, grasslands, wildlife and agricultural heritage.

Opening Night Party

During our opening night cocktail party, you’ll be able to preview the never-before-seen selection of artwork and have an early-buying opportunity for your favorite pieces. We will feature an impressive array of delicious foods from many MALT-protected producers.

This event is sold out.

Opening Day

Saturday, May 18 from 11 am – 3 pm

Public Show opens with free entrance, all art available for purchase. The Fig Rig food truck from Girl & The Fig will be selling farm fresh lunches accompanied by Three Twins ice cream truck for a sweet treat.

See the show, grab some lunch and picnic on the beautiful grounds of the Marin Art & Garden Center all in support of protecting our local farmland.

Artist Talk: From Earth to Art

Ane Carla Rovetta — a painter, renowned storyteller and winner of the Environmental Educator of the Year award — has been painting for the MALT Ranches & Rolling Hills Art Show for the past twenty-one years. Like the artisans of the European Renaissance, she believes art and science are kindred disciplines. Join us for a lively and educational talk, including a demonstration of how to make your own, natural paints using milk, eggs, tree sap, and even soot.

The Show and Sale

You will be able to view and purchase the art during our cocktail event and Public Show will be held from May 17th to 23rd. During this special week, MALT will be sponsoring artist and conservation talks, hosting workshops given by the painters and inviting food trucks featuring local producers. Join us at the show and support protected farms and ranches in West Marin.
